14 more.

I tell ya, I have written about four blog posts in the last two weeks, but none of them were quite right.  One was about the crucifixion and the resurrection.  Another was pictures. Another was about the movie Dear John...and then there were a few random lame ones thrown in between.  I don't know why I never posted any of them; I guess I never found time to perfect them.

Tonight, fourteen things for which I am thankful.

1. Hilarious old people who make my job possible.
2. Pandora Radio.
3. The Brott Family, one of the coolest families to hang out with.
4. My black dress from Target.
5. Righteousness, and knowing that it is possible, even when it seems so very far away.
6. Ice cream.
7. Casting Crowns.
8. The trash can. (Can you imagine what we would do without trash cans??)
9. Anything written by Elizabeth George Speare.
10. Birthdays.  Annie. Kathleen. David. Andrew. I love birthdays and giving birthday presents.
11. A paycheck tomorrow!
12. Friends who encourage me.
13. Washing machines. (Again, what would we do without them?)
14. Propitiation.

"This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins."

When crabbiness is swelling up and threatening to overwhelm you, it is advised that you make a list of 14 things that make you happy.

In short, it's good to give thanks.

Tonight's 14:

- the ability to write (a blessing in disguise?)
- an amazing coat to keep me warm when Dad abruptly flips the heat off.
- an hour and a half in a lovely coffee shop chatting with a friend
- a white mocha coffee (latte? cappuccino? who knows.) at said coffee shop
- fresh salad! (the "tomorrow" part in "eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we diet!" has arrived.)
- Mom said my hair looked like Molly Gibson's!
- hot tea and brownies (did I say something about a diet? I don't remember saying anything about a diet...) to help me push through a tough assignment
- NEURONS!! they make us work!
- the fact that I am single (oh, you don't know how thankful I am. Just get yourself an older sister who has a boyfriend and you'll be thankful too.)
- pink and orange highlighters! ("highlighter: -n. a felt-tip pen with a wide nib for highlighting passages of printed material in a soft, transparent color." Read: a desperate attempt to learn Psychology.)
- Corry Bouc, the best 4-H leader EVER.
- a brand new phone for FREE! (Mom: "I consider that a minor miracle.") And he transferred all my numbers - free.
- how easy it is to pick up a pair of shorts for Dad...I mean seriously! Just grab the right size and go. It's soooo simple!
- a planner which helps me keep track of every event, deadline and otherwise in my life at present.

As a bonus, I just got an assignment back from my professor, and at the bottom he wrote: "I’ve taken the time to give some extra suggestions on your writing and quoting style because I think you have the desire to learn and excel in any way you can. I’m pleased with your work and look forward to seeing more of it."

YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

thankful

Components of a good day:

  • Early morning encouragement.
  • Meeting a homeschool graduate who works for GU on my way to class. (!!!)
  • A pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks with Mom.
  • A phone call from a sister I really miss, in which we laughed heartily at my suggestion that the rest of our family had been whisked away, considering none of them were answering their phones and it is, after all, Halloween week...(what can I say? My Spanish teacher spent the entire class period telling us ghost stories!)
  • A high school football playoff game. Go Scouts!
  • Driving rain. I hate that piddly, pipsqueak, wanna-be-rain drizzle that we so often have. If it's going to rain, let it be the real deal. I love rain that requires you to put your wipers on full blast.
  • Freedom to laugh.
